- Departs every Saturday from Dubrovnik
- 11 May - 05 October 2013
- One-way route from Croatia (Dubrovnik) to Greece (Corfu)
- 3 Days to complete the full tour
The Croatia to Greece Pass covers some of the least explored jewels of Albania and visits Kotor, one of the must-see towns on the coast of Montenegro.
This Balkan Road Trip lasts 3 days and is a transit tour from Dubrovnik in Croatia to Corfu in Greece that also stops off at some of the highlights that Albania and Montenegro have to offer along the way.
Explore the UNESCO-listed walled city of Kotor in Montenegro, then some of the best attractions Albania has to offer: the capital Tirana with its lively nightlife and low prices, the Turkish town of Berat, and the fascinating Roman colony of Butrint.
The Greek Island of Corfu is a great finish to this tour, and of course you can stay there for as many days as you like after the Balkan Road Trip.
Remember, Albania is opening up NOW, so see this enticing country before the crowds arrive and the secret is out!

Itinerary
Saturday: DUBROVNIK - KOTOR - TIRANA
Our tour starts in Dubrovnik at 9am and we head straight for the nearby border with Montenegro. This young, tiny Balkan state really punches above its weight in the beauty stakes. Stunning mountains, fjords and beaches run from one end of the coastline to the other and the Road Trip stops in one of the must-see towns on the way to Albania.
Kotor's impressive city walls and indented bay make it a great place for an explore or a quick swim. After lunch or a beer or two, it’s onward to Albania and its colourful capital. Tirana's prices are low, the nightlife is buzzing and Saturday night is the right time to be there to experience the clubs, pubs and bars! Overnight in a centrally-located Tirana hotel.
Sunday: TIRANA - BERAT
After a morning taking in the cafes and the chance to marvel at the riot of colours daubed all over Tirana (the Mayor decided the city looked too drab and arranged for hundreds of buildings to be brightly painted and the result is spectacular) we jump into the mini-bus and head for a swin stopin an Albanian beach. Albania has an extensive coast so we feel it would be a shame not to get a taste of this.
After the beach we head to Berat, a UNESCO-protected, Ottoman-Turkish flavour of the east. It has to be emphasised that very few travellers or tourists go to Albania so enjoy the authentic experience while you still can! Overnight in Berat.
Monday: BERAT - BUTRINT - SARANDA
We leave Berat for one of Albania's biggest highlights: Butrint Ruins*.The world is just starting to learn about Butrint's unique claim to fame - it is one of the most intact Roman colonial sites in Europe, which boasts an amphitheatre, basilica and temple, all on one tiny peninsula!
Overnight on the coast in Saranda, with the island of Corfu's lights twinkling across the sea.
*Butrint Ruins entrance fee (approx. 5 Euros) is payable locally.
Tuesday: SARANDA TO CORFU
There are various options here:
(1) You can take the ferry from Saranda to the island of Corfu - the ferry* leaves at 9.00am.
(2) Take a bus from Saranda to Athens.
(3) Stay in Saranda a little longer and visit other local attractions such as the Blue Eye Spring or the Butrint National Park before moving on to your next destination.
Whatever your next step is, Bon Voyage!
*Ferry not included - costs around 19 euros one-way.
